Guillaume Pelloux – Summer 2010
Guillaume Pelloux was born in 1976 and lives in Toulouse, France. Archivist by profession, Guillaume Pelloux has always had a fascination for history, for royal characters, but also by the appearance of fashion, the beauty of bodies, by focus on the stars.
For a long time, Guillaume Pelloux was a traveler who took refuge in an imaginary idealized past, to erase a boring daily life. Suddenly, two years ago, he decided to move to the other side of the mirror sticking his dreams on the canvas.
The French press and several collectors and a gallery in Paris notice him. He presented his work in spring 2010 in an exhibition called 'Confession.
The nineteenth-century academic painting, photography black and white of the early twentieth century until the 60s, but also artistic movements such as the baroque and neo-classicism, are part of his inspiration. Jumble of sensations and images, his work is steeped in contrasts that reveal a taste for dramatic effects, sometimes pompous, grandiosity, the overhead decorative, but also the romance, the torments of the heart, soul and melancholy.
In Evora, during the summer of 2010, he will present 20 paintings, created since the beginning of the year, some of which have a link with Portugal. More conclusive, also in its more delicate color harmonies, they testify to a new stage in his artistic demand.
Guillaume Pelloux uses the technique of collage on canvas, which sometimes adds to acrylic paint.
